About the role

The Automation Technician role offers the opportunity for you to be responsible for providing technical support to the electrical department related to instrumentation underground and surface as part of the automation at Evolution Mining Red Lake Operation. The roster will be 7 days on and 7 days off (12 hours) and is a residential role. We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth.

Key result areas will include:

• Provide assistance to the Automation and Process Control Specialist
• Help program, upgrade, and maintain communication integrity.
• Provide technical assistance and/or training to operating personnel.
• Install maintain fiber optics at the mine site and underground.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs.
• Maintain, update, document, and backs up software applications.
• Assist instrumentation personnel in troubleshooting and implement solutions to instrumentation and control systems.
• Provide assistance to troubleshoot and maintain fiber optics at the site.
• Support the maintenance on the control systems with electrical, instrumentation, underground and mill department.
• Update AutoCAD drawings and drawing database related to instrumentation and electrical projects.
• Program and maintain the Energy management system modifications.
• Clearly report details of work completion and any pertinent information related to the task and update all drawings and prints.
• Generate various reports, as required.
• Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation, and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free.
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As the Automation Technician, you will have a Technician Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical. It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

• 2 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician is a requirement or a certified electrician with similar skill sets.
• Exposure to PLC, HMI, and distributed control systems programming is an asset Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Sound knowledge of Foxboro, Wonderware, and ION software.
• Hand-On Experience with Allen Butler, Ge Fanuc, and Modicon PLCs.
• Ventilation Systems (co-Ordination with Ventilation department).
• VFD and Auto controls.
• Tele-Remote and RCT (Remote Control Technology).
• Leaky Feeder Network and interface to Radio Systems at Surface.
• Good working knowledge of IP networks and wireless technologies.
• Ability to create and interpret electrical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical ability.
• Experience in software application programs that will meet operational needs to maximize productivity, minimize costs and facilitate the understanding of both the mill and underground department’s process.
• Implement programs in accordance with company standards.
• Good decision making and problem solving capabilities.
• Sound computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong attention to detail.
