Work Location: Liberty Village, Toronto
Salary Grade: 29
Salary Range: $45,000 to 60,000
Work Arrangement: At least 4 days a week in office requirement, 9AM to 5PM, up to 37.5 hours a week
Responsibilities
- As Associate, Label Copy, you will serve as a key liaison between the Global Release and Planning System (GRPS) metadata database and the Operations team to ensure accurate and timely entry of metadata into the system. You will be responsible for creating label copy/SKUs for domestic artist releases and Canadian-initiated compilations, working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve ownership conflicts and maintaining clean data across systems. Your work directly supports critical downstream functions – including scheduling, sales, royalties, legal and digital/physical operations – where complete and correct metadata is essential to ensuring financial accuracy and product success.
- Assist with gathering and organizing label copy details by working with internal teams and entering data into the GRPS metadata system to ensure timely and accurate setup.
- Assist in creating product records (SKUs) for domestic artist releases and compilations by preparing detailed label copy that follows company and industry standards.
- Support the assignment and tracking of key identifiers like ISRCs, GRIDs, UPCs, and project numbers to help different departments access consistent information.
- Maintain the quality, accuracy and consistency of metadata by proactively checking for errors or any discrepancies and working with others to correct any issues that could affect internal processes.
- Assist in resolving data issues that could impact royalty payments or digital reporting, helping to ensure accurate revenue distribution to artists, songwriters and the label.
- Help research track ownership and rights to resolve metadata conflicts and support proper rights management.
- Provide general support to the Operations Team, including tasks such as archiving masters, preparing video content for DSP partners, entering metadata for the D2C storefront, and gathering information for the SME Release Book.
- Will support digital production and delivery and provide key back up for digital projects.
Qualifications
- Specialized community courses or a music business–related certificate or diploma
- 2–4 years of relevant experience with demonstrated independence in label copy, metadata, digital production, or similar operational roles
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong overall computer skills
- Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Ability to work independently while remaining collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented
