Job description

WSP is currently seeking an Assistant Project Coordinator available for 6 to 8 months starting in April/May 2026 for various Land Development and Municipal projects based out of our Edmonton office.

This role coordinates forms part of a cross‑functional team responsible for delivering defined project outputs on time, within budget and with quality and safety conscience results. Reporting to the Project Coordinator / Field Services Supervisor, the Assistant Project Coordinator helps to plan, provide survey, organize construction records and monitor one or more projects to meet defined municipality requirements, client needs and/or business specifications.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Construction inspection and documentation, supporting the lead Project Coordinator.
  • Construction survey layout and topographic survey on projects in Edmonton and Northern Alberta;
  • Resolving construction issues with the assistance of the site Project Coordinator and the project manager/engineer team;
  • Interpretation of acquired survey and field data;
  • Quantity measurements, daily reporting, and participation in construction meetings, including providing feedback to project Contract Administrator for PPC processing;
  • Completion of construction as‑builting for record keeping/approval purposes;
  • Miscellaneous assistance to the project coordinator with day to day operations, including HSE processes and record keeping; and;
  • Communications / scheduling with city/county/municipal inspectors on assigned projects to ensure compliance with contract standards / specifications.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Civil Engineering or Construction / Construction Technology student or graduate;
  • Related experience in Civil Engineering field is beneficial;
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specs, along with general problem solving skills;
  • Ability to work long hours on your feet and ability to complete physical tasks.
  • A working knowledge and familiarity with AutoCad / Civil 3D is required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook also required;
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA / ASET as a TT, CET or PTECH;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
  • Comfortable in working both in a team and independently in both an office and field environment; and
  • A suitable working vehicle and valid driver’s license are required for this position.
