A government economic department is seeking an Assistant Director for Economic Strategy to drive economic development and industry support in Southwestern Ontario. The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
This role sits within the Economic Policy Directorate which is part of the Economic business unit. The Economic Policy directorate develops economic strategies and policies, advances economic reforms, drives better regulation across the State’s public sector, and undertakes economic modelling and in-depth economic analysis.

We currently have one (1) fixed term full-time position to backfill maternity leave. This position is available until November 2026, with possibility of extension or permanency.
Note : Due to the departments shutdown over the Christmas / New Year period, this selection process will be finalised in early 2026. The selected candidate will be expected to commence in the role in the new year.
