Job description

The Algoma District School Board invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Capital Planning and Facility Renewal Supervisor.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Capital Planning and Facility Renewal this position assists in carrying out responsibilities related to Capital Project planning, monitoring and reporting.

Summary of Duties

Assists in planning, developing, coordinating and supervising facility renewal and capital projects for ADSB facilities.

Performs facility reviews, condition assessments and accommodation studies.

Maintains and updates various internal / Ministry databases and all historical building information.

Assists in the preparation, submission and monitoring of capital budgets, capital project estimating and reconciliation.

Assists in preparation of construction tenders, RFPs, RFQs and specifications.

Assists in the hiring of Engineers, Architects and other Consultants, and attending meeting with those parties throughout the course of projects.

Interprets drawings, specifications, and contracts as it pertains to new construction and existing equipment.

Implements and incorporates health and safety policies and procedures within areas of responsibility.

Assists with managing energy initiatives.

Review and maintain building automation systems supporting all school mechanical equipment, lighting controls, etc.

Liaises with Plant Supervisors, Government Agencies / Ministries, Architects, Engineers and Senior Board staff.

Assists in administering the Board’s Safe Drinking Water, Hazardous Waste Program and Recycling Program.

Qualifications

Post-Secondary Diploma in a related field (Architectural, Mechanical or Civil) or equivalent.

Certified Engineering Technologist Designation, or its equivalent.

Two years’ experience in construction supervision or construction consultancy.

Candidates should have a background in project management.

Candidates should have a background in database management, mainframe, and PC Applications, Advanced training in AutoCAD, MS Word and Excel.

Valid driver’s license is required.

Location and Hours of Work

Monday to Friday – 35 hours per week
