What You'll Do

As an Analyst, BI & Data at Canadian Tire Corporation, you will be a strategic contributor to the enterprise analytics ecosystem. You’ll design and deliver scalable, modern data solutions using tools such as Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics, SQL, Python, Power Automate & Databricks to enable others to use data more efficiently and effectively. Opportunities to explore and integrate emerging AI-powered tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT also exist. You’ll be involved in the data enablement process which includes taking data through the ETL stages to integrating data in self-serve tools that you will build for a wide range of business partners to drive performance and business strategy.

In this role, you\'ll do:

Dashboard Development
  • Develop robust BI and analytics solutions using Power BI with a focus on building self-serve tools for business partners and decision support teams.
  • Design, plan, build dashboards, data visualizations, data pipelines, and models to support a wide range of analytical questions.
  • Apply a Design Thinking approach as you take dashboards from the development stage to the testing stage and into a productionized state.
Data Management
  • Design, plan and implement data models, pipelines and analytics solutions using Azure Synapse, SQL, and Python.
  • Monitor and track resource usage and pipeline/notebook dependencies to ensure data tables and other outputs are being created/produced on schedule and efficiently.
  • Critically evaluate information from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and summarize detailed data for broader understanding.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and performance across data assets.
  • Explore, understand and use data for reporting/analysis from multiple banners (e.g. Canadian Tire, SportChek and Mark’s) and subject areas (e.g. sales, margin, inventory, products, store network).
What You Bring
  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science/Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in BI development, data engineering, data analytics or related roles.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL.
  • Working knowledge in Power BI (i.e. DAX, measures) or similar BI tools like Tableau and Looker.
  • Familiarity of Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Basic proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, modeling and automation (e.g., Pandas, NumPy), with motivation to advance your skillset in other areas such as PySpark.
  • Familiarity with Databricks and an interest in implementing AI-enhanced solutions like Copilot or ChatGPT.
  • An understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes.
  • Basic exposure to data governance, metadata management, and documentation.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets efficiently, with a passion for digging into both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Excellent attention to detail, a structured approach to analysis, and the ability to develop logical arguments.
  • Recognized for your curiosity, growth mindset, and ability to influence clients with data through clear verbal and written communication.
  • Understanding and interest in advanced analytics concepts is an asset.
