MAINTAIR AVIATION SERVICES has a long history of providing safe, customer focused aviation services, and as we continue to grow we are currently seeking candidates for PART & FULL -TIME RAMP ATTENDANT / BAGGAGE HANDLER here in Thunder Bay!

JOB SUMMARY

Ramp Attendants work under the direction of the Station Leadership to ensure all aspects of aircraft handling are completed safely according to specific company policies & procedures. Safety, attention to detail, following company procedures, and team work are key components to being a successful ramp attendant. The ideal candidate must possess verbal & written communication skills, be energetic, outgoing, understanding and accepting of change. They must also be flexible and able to deal with the adapting nature of aviation. If you enjoy a great team, where each day presents new challenges and opportunities, this position is for you!

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Sort, load, unload baggage and cargo from flights.
  • Service lavatories and potable water per company standards.
  • Connect, disconnect ground power/bridge power from Aircraft.
  • Marshall aircraft to and from gate, parking stands.
  • Wing walk arrivals and departures.
  • Operate belt loaders, baggage tractors and carts.
  • Complete aircraft grooming/cleaning.
  • Complete aircraft towing and/or brake riding.
  • Complete daily inspection of operating equipment.
  • Complete equipment deficiency reports as required.
  • Snow removal, equipment cleaning, housekeeping as required.
  • Perform aircraft deicing as required.
  • Perform deice trucking filling and bulk glycol deliveries as required.
  • Attend all required training sessions and successfully complete training courses.
  • Actively participate in company safety programs.
  • Work as a team member in a safe, efficient, professional manner.
  • Adhere to published uniform standards and requirements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and safe workplace procedures.
  • Take direction from ramp shift leads/supervisors and BTW Coordinator/Manager.
  • Complete customer baggage and/or cargo deliveries as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to apply and secure an Airport Restricted Area Pass (RAIC).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean abstract & obtain a clean criminal records check prior to offer.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand the English language.
  • Previous airline and/or freight handling experience would be an asset.
  • Must have excellent team player competencies.
  • Must be willing to adapt to the changing nature of aviation.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • $125.00 per year Protective Footwear Allowance.
  • PPE required is provided to employee.
  • Returnable deposit on all Uniform Pieces.
  • Paid Training

This position is represented by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
