Location: IFNA Communities

Department: Integrated Emergency Services (IES)

Type of Role: Full-Time

Responsibilities
  • Responding swiftly to emergency calls and providing crucial medical aid.
  • Conducting thorough assessments and administering appropriate treatments.
  • Safely transporting patients to medical facilities while ensuring continuous monitoring and care.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and collaborating with healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and bystanders to provide reassurance and gather relevant medical history.
  • Adhering to established protocols and ethical standards in the provision of medical care.
  • Staying updated on current medical practices through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Completing other duties as assigned, including various emergency operations.
  • Note: Flexibility is key at IFNA; you may occasionally cover tasks outside your role, ensuring comprehensive support for our organization’s mission.
Position Requirements
  • Able to fly into IFNA communities from city hub as identified by IFNA
  • Certification as an Advanced Care Paramedic in accordance with the Ontario Provincial Symptom Relief and Cardiac Arrest Medical Directives is required.
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) Certification.
  • Minimum three years of verified paramedic experience.
  • Advanced Care Paramedic Graduate Certificate.
  • Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) Advanced Care Paramedic Certificate.
  • Valid CPR BLS (HCP) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification (an asset).
  • Successful completion of Base Hospital certification
  • Valid F driver’s license with access to reliable transportation and a clear Driver’s abstract.
  • Up-to-date immunization records and N95 Mask Fit Testing.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Screening, and Child Abuse Registry check.
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Fire and Emergency Services (an asset).
  • Understanding of Indigenous history, traditions, and beliefs; ability to implement cultural values and practices (an asset).
  • Familiarity with Indigenous communities and organizations; experience working for an Indigenous organization.

Benefits, Salary & Schedule

Salary: $60/ hour

Shifts: 12-hour shifts for 14 days on and 14 days off (subject to change). Overtime and being on-call is required.
