A healthcare organization in Slave Lake is seeking an Administrative Support III to manage health information clerical duties. The role requires completion of Grade 12, medical reception experience, and excellent interpersonal skills to ensure high-quality customer service. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $23.53 to $28.60 per hour.
Your Opportunity: Reporting to the Supervisor, Health Information Management, the Administrative Support III - Health Information Management performs a variety of clerical duties covering all areas of HIM including encounter management, patient registration and information/cashier duties. Main duties of the Administrative Support III - Health Information Management include but are not limited to: Assisting with physician curtailment. Performing verification and validation for patient records as per provincial guidelines. Processing admission and registration of patients for both inpatient and outpatient services including emergency. Receive payments on behalf of finance, directing clients, visitors, staff etc. to appropriate departments/areas as needed. Reception and other related HIM duties. Ability to follow verbal and written processes precisely. Consistently ensures that protected health information remains private according to the Health Information Act (HIA) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Consistently follows Alberta Health Services Information Privacy and Information Security policies. Effective communication skills, promoting and adhering to excellent customer service in every interaction regardless of who it is with. Performs other Health Information Management related duties as needed. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Successful completion of Medical Terminology course (testing will be performed). 2 years medical reception experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with clients, nursing staff, and physicians. Ability to prioritize and organize work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively. Superior customer service skills. Proven accuracy in spelling, keyboarding and attention to detail. Minimum typing speed of 45 wpm (testing will be performed). Proven initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
MOA, Unit Clerk Course or equivalent. Experience in Patient Registration, Financial Records, and/or Telecommunication.
