Position Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Addiction Support Worker is responsible for the development and implementation of individualized patient treatment plans with an emphasis on counselling, system navigation and assistance with the recovery process. The Addiction Support Worker is a front-line, clinical position working with other interdisciplinary members to provide withdrawal management care. The Addiction Support Worker develops therapeutic relationships with patients and family members, and works collaboratively with the treatment team in the implementation of a recovery plan.

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in Mental Health & Addictions - preferred
  • If in recovery from substance use, must have three years of continuous abstinence
  • Good knowledge of phases, progression and symptoms of chemical and alcohol dependency addictions
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with addictions in a supportive, non-judgemental manner
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate and appropriate case notes
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary care team and collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication skills; Proficiency in French language is an asset
Education and/or Certification:
  • Graduate of a Mental Health & Addictions Diploma Program – required
  • Chemical Dependency Counsellor Diploma – preferred
  • Certificate in CCACF – preferred
  • Completion of Opioid Dependence Certificate – preferred
  • Crisis/Suicide Intervention Training – preferred
  • Certificate in CPR/First Aid – required
