Overview

Location: Mount Washington Alpine Resort
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time
Reports to: Director of Finance & Administration

Why Join Us?

At Mount Washington, your office is a mountain and your work helps keep an entire alpine community running smoothly. Here, accounting isn’t hidden in the back office, it’s part of the story that allows guests to ski, ride, and explore. If you’re motivated by meaningful work and a lifestyle that balances challenge with adventure, this is where both come together.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be the financial backbone of the resort, balancing technical acumen with leadership. You’ll guide a capable team, ensure financial integrity, and play a direct role in how the resort operates.

Day to day, you will:

  • Lead & Develop the Team — mentor, support, and hold staff accountable.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and strong relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Ensure day-to-day accounting tasks stay on track.
  • Own the Month-End Close — manage reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting to deliver timely and accurate financial statements.
  • Ensure Compliance & Reporting Accuracy — prepare and file GST, WCB, EHT, and other statutory reports; prepare year-end working papers and liaise with auditors and external accountants.
  • Monitor payroll, cash flow, tax, and payment processes to ensure integrity and control.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support — assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide financial insight to department leaders to support sound decision-making.
  • Drive Process Improvement — partner with other departments to support decision-making.
  • Identify and implement improvements that strengthen efficiency and internal controls.
What You Bring

You’re more than a technical accountant; you’re a proactive leader who takes ownership, thrives under deadlines, and ensures nothing falls through the cracks. You stay composed when juggling multiple demands, and you know how to hold yourself and others accountable. To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • CPA designation (or equivalent combination of foreign designation and/or advanced experience).
  • Several years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Proven ability to lead staff, delegate effectively, and develop others.
  • Clear communication and reliable follow-through, ensuring deadlines are met without reminders.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and solid computer competence across financial tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey expectations and feedback clearly.
  • Reliable means of transportation to and from the Mountain.
What Makes This Role Rewarding

At Mount Washington, you’ll see the direct results of your work every day: your leadership and financial stewardship directly shape how the resort runs. You’ll build relationships across departments, help guide decisions, and know that your work is supporting something bigger: an alpine community where guests and staff alike come together to enjoy the mountain.

Resort Conditions

Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same—and that’s part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues only accessible by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements; whether it’s bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain. Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!

Perks & Benefits

We offer more than just a paycheque — we offer a lifestyle:

  • Comprehensive health & dental benefits.
  • Group RRSP matching program.
  • Season passes for you and your family.
  • Retail and food & beverage discounts across the resort.
  • A collaborative, close-knit workplace set in an alpine environment that few workplaces can match.
Additional Information

Candidates may be required to complete skill testing (e.g., accounting, Excel, or management scenarios) as part of the selection process.
