Accountant

Reporting to our VP, Finance, the accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting, financial reporting, and a variety of accounting projects.

Our ideal candidate enjoys taking on a variety of work and is looking for the opportunity to learn, grow, and be mentored in an accounting role.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Full-cycle Accounting
  • Accounts receivable – billing and collection, reviewing partner contracts to ensure compliance to terms
  • Accounts payable – match invoices with purchase orders, expense allocation, review payments
  • Payroll – process semi-monthly payroll, year-end T4 reconciliation and ROE’s
  • Complete bank reconciliations
  • Maintain our fixed asset ledger, amortization schedules and calculate gain / loss on disposal
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities including reconciling various balance sheet accounts and preparing lead sheets
  • Prepare financial statements and the supporting schedules
  • Support financial audits and liaison with external auditors
  • Prepare periodic journal entries for adjustment and accruals
  • Develop various analytical reports, as requested
  • Prepare budgeting variance analysis and reports
Accounting Projects
  • Collaborate with project teams and prepare project costing reports
  • Prepare and report statutory remittance, filing, and payments
  • Prepare documentation for corporate tax, and SR&ED returns
  • Supports financial reporting for related companies
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Additional responsibilities, as required/requested.
Education & Experience Required:
  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Working towards CPA designation
  • 2-5 years of related accounting experience
  • Knowledge of ERP software is an asset
  • Experience with SR&ED is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy to ensure a high quality of work
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure: Quickly adapt to changing priorities and develop solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
