Here's how a Accountant for PCL Construction Management Inc. within Saskatoon contributes to our team:

Responsibilities
  • Performs general district accounting, project accounting and administrative duties promptly and accurately, ensuring all transactions and reports comply with company policies, contract terms and applicable legislation.
  • Responsible for the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor set‑up, invoice processing, and cheque runs.
  • Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and ensures timely payment.
  • Processes weekly payroll costing allocations accurately and on schedule.
  • Prepares bank deposits, completes monthly account reconciliations, and records cash receipt entries.
  • Collects and reviews subcontractor compliance documents to ensure alignment with contract requirements.
  • Identifies any irregularities or risk exposure and contributes to developing strategies for resolution.
  • Communicates compliance and project risks to project teams and accounting management, assisting with risk mitigation efforts.
  • Collaborates with Project Managers to monitor budgets, analyze cost variances, and provide financial insights and financial reports that support effective forecasting and decision‑making.
  • Prepares information for both internal and external financial reporting requirements, including month‑end and year‑end reports for head office.
Qualifications
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience in construction or a related industry preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of full‑cycle accounting and project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of government legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
  • Understands and complies with all labor agreements, government legislation, and PCL policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate understanding of owner contracts as they relate to payment terms, billing requirements, audit rights, and cost‑of‑work definition, insurance, and bonding.
  • Exhibits strong management skills, with the ability to delegate and coordinate activities and lead and motivate employees.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software.
