Salary Range: $77,000-$98,500/annum

The Opportunity:

The Account Manager actively builds a territory of retail accounts to meet or exceed budgeted volumes and contributions. The primary responsibility is to deliver sales growth in fuel and C-store through the utilization of the Dealer Value Proposition. This position owns the sales and marketing efforts to maintain and develop an account base within a defined territory, while building a pipeline of new sites. The position will also be accountable for margin management and cost control to maximize profitability. This role requires a person who can perform under pressure. It is based “in the field” with significant customer interfaces on a regular basis. The AM owns all accounts to be sure they comply with all safety and environmental guidelines and all company brand requirements are adhered to. It is a front-line position that should analyze marketing trends and make recommendations on go-to-market strategies, customer behaviors and changes in a retailer’s financial position. This role leads the need internally and externally, daily and with people from various levels of organizations. The AM is a strong leader that drives legal accountability and has a high financial acumen. The individual is responsible for selling the value of Sunoco and resigning sites is imperative to the growth and success of Sunoco long term.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads a market of dealers while increasing same store growth to add value and leadership in the Dealer Network.
  • Resigning sites in a very competitive market is imperative to the long-term growth of volume and EBITDA to the organization in both Fuel and C-store opportunities.
  • Leads strong relationships and professional values to re-sign existing dealer business.
  • Builds a strong pipeline of ‘A’ sites for territory growth with a dual focus on NTI’s and competitive gains in Fuel and C-store.
  • Manages all levels of brand execution to achieve the highest consumer regard and excellent customer service for our brands.
  • Continuously develops and grows Sunoco’s loyalty program under each banner.
  • Conducts value added site visits and assists the dealer to exceed the mystery shop scores in forecourt and backcourt execution.
  • Makes recommendations and actively promotes the advantages of Sunoco through our Dealer Value Proposition, while making tactical decisions on brand structure.
  • Delivers recommendations to the Regional Sales Manager and shares best practices within the team that will support and enhance the dealer base.
  • Analyzes markets and delivers recommendations, provides required reports while using the best time management skills to make the most of a prepared schedule.
  • Implements all legal requirements to mitigate risk and liability to ensure the overall health of the dealer network.
  • Owns the responsibility of legal duties to mitigate risk and liability within the dealer network and Sunoco.
  • Conducts themself with the highest level of safety adheringto Sunoco’s Safety policy and procedures, while taking responsibility of onsite dealer safety.
  • Owns their territory and communicates proactively with all levels of the organization.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in Management, Marketing or Finance.
  • Minimum 5 years with a multi-unit gasoline/retail or convenience store management background.
  • Financial Management – Results focused on income statements, balance sheets, & cash flow management.
  • Understanding of legal agreements, letters of intent and other business contractual necessities.
  • Proven record of increased same store growth, while incorporating marketing ideas to support a dealer network.
  • Must be able to make difficult decisions that are based on sound data / information and that are in the best interest of Sunoco LP.
  • Must be able to view situations from all perspectives and must be fair in assessments and be able to strike a balance in making judgment calls.
  • Occupation Health and Safety and site operations – ability to enforce safety and company standards.
  • Computer Skills – proficiency is expected with the use of Excel, Word, Accounting Systems, and Email.
  • Willingness to travel and/or overnight travel is required.
  • Willing to work with limited or minimal supervision.
  • Must have a high level of commitment to time management to make efficient use of dealer interaction.
  • Understanding of competition laws and ability to interpret for best business practice.
