Change begins with the small decisions we make, each day, to support each other, and strive to create inspiring, incredible educational experiences for all students, no matter where they are, or how they learn. In choosing a career with Yorkville University, you will have the opportunity to push boundaries, flex your creativity, and inspire positive change for so many people.

Our core values put the student experience at the center of what we do, reflecting who we are, and aspire to be. If you want to shine a light on academic excellence, be empowered to make an impact on the transformation of the Canadian post-secondary education landscape, and work collaboratively beyond levels, join us.

Who we need

Reporting to the Manager, Academic Accommodations and Accessibility we are hiring an Academic Accommodations and Accessibility Specialist. In this role, you will champion equal access and opportunities for people with disabilities by developing and coordinating individualized support strategies and contributing to broader institutional initiatives that promote equitable access to learning.

You will collaborate closely with leadership and administrative teams to help shape a responsive, respectful, and solution-focused work environment—one where every team member can do their best work and thrive.

This is a full time role, working primarily on-site at our Concord campus.

What’s in it for you

Support student success. Your work will have a direct impact on ensuring students with disabilities have equal access to learning and the tools to thrive. You will play a key role in helping students achieve their academic goals and experience a truly inclusive education.

Shape meaningful change. By collaborating across departments and influencing policies, you will strengthen Yorkville’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and academic excellence. This is an opportunity to contribute to broader institutional strategy while driving improvements that remove barriers and create lasting impact.

Advance your own education and career. After one year of service, you will have access to Yorkville’s free courses and degree programs, including the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). Whether you choose to deepen your expertise in accessibility or pursue broader academic interests, you will be supported to grow both personally and professionally.

As the new Academic Accommodations and Accessibility Specialist, you will:
  • Provide understanding and service. You will collaborate with students, faculty, and academic leaders to assess needs and review psychoeducational documentation. You will develop individualized accommodation plans and ensure students receive timely, effective support. You will also provide one-on-one guidance and advocacy to create a positive, barrier-free learning experience.
  • Ensure compliance and promote awareness. You will coordinate academic accommodations across programs and departments, ensuring delivery aligns with legal requirements, institutional policies, and best practices. You will raise awareness of disability issues through workshops, presentations, and resources, and you will foster sensitivity and inclusion across the university community.
  • Maintain integrity and confidentiality. You will manage accurate and secure records of accommodation requests, approvals, and implementations. You will liaise with faculty, advisors, and registrars to ensure smooth execution of accommodation plans, treating each case with respect while balancing professional boundaries and expectations.
  • Innovate with technology. You will recommend, acquire, and manage assistive technologies that enhance access to academic programs. You will research and maintain accessible resources, including FAQs and online materials, and you will stay current by collaborating with external disability support organizations.
  • Contribute to culture. You will advance a positive and inclusive corporate culture that reflects our core values, supporting students and colleagues while building a stronger community of accessibility and respect.
You have:
  • The education. You have a Bachelor’s degree, along with knowledge of disability legislation, accessibility standards (e.g., AODA, ADA), and accommodation practices. A graduate degree in counselling, psychology, social work, education, or a related field is an asset.
  • The experience. You have experience working with youth or adults requiring accommodations in a strategic support or advisory role, ideally within an educational or learning strategy context. You are familiar with accommodation plans, assistive technologies, and navigating complex student or employee needs with discretion and empathy. You manage your time and responsibilities efficiently while juggling multiple cases. Experience interpreting psychoeducational assessments is an advantage.
  • The mindset. You are an innovative problem solver with a high attention to detail. You are solutions-oriented, proactive, and grounded in a deep respect for autonomy. You understand the importance of inclusion and are committed to reducing structural barriers in education and employment.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional and flexible communication skills, and can adapt to meet the needs of your audience. You can build trusting and influential relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels. You collaborate with ease, handle sensitive situations professionally, and communicate clearly to ensure satisfaction.
  • The technical skills. You are comfortable using case management systems, learning platforms, and assistive technologies that support accessibility. You are proficient with Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools, and you stay current with emerging technologies that enhance access and inclusion.

  • A place where all individuals feel welcomed in the academic and workplace environments, and can bring their authentic selves to the educational and work spheres. • The opportunity to grow with access to free courses, certifications and programs - right up to our Masters' offerings.
  • An appreciation for the insights and skills you bring to work with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including a wide breadth of wellness services, and a work-life balance.
