A technology company based in São Paulo is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Global Accounting Team. In this role, you will perform general ledger maintenance, assist with financial closings, and ensure compliance with US and local GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, 2+ years of experience, and strong collaboration skills. Zendesk is seeking a Staff Accountant to be a key member of the Global Accounting Team!
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for performing general ledger maintenance and reconciliation as well as other duties to assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger (GL) close process.
This role provides assistance with implementing policies and procedures to ensure financial transactions are being executed appropriately and collaborates with other departments in terms of financial statement reviews. This role will also navigate through a variety of other departments and activities related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, tax, and invoicing customers.

You will work with the third-party services providers based in Brazil and in Mexico (outsourcing firms) assisting on the activities related to accounts payables, accounts receivables, tax, and invoicing customers
Participate in the month-end close process, including journal entries, performing reconciliations, and preparing other analysis, ensuring accuracy of financial information.
Accountable for providing assistance with the monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close processes
Assists with implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP principles
Preparation of fluctuation analyses and performance of financial statement analytics, providing relevant explanations for fluctuations provided to senior management
Assists with accounts payables day-to-day activities, by reviewing and reconciling payments with bank reports, controlling payment dates, and requesting approvals.
Assists with the process of invoicing customers bridging possible gaps
Assists with indirect taxes and withholding taxes reconciliation
Participation in process streamlining and improvement projects
Participation in annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules
Other projects/ tasks as necessary
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
2 or more years of accounting experience – Big 4 public accounting preferred
Understanding of US and local GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulations
Understanding of indirect tax (ISS, PIS and COFINS) and withholding tax rules
Understanding Sao Paulo City Hall billing process
Intermediate MS Excel skills required (VLookup, Pivot Tables, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization skills
Energetic, driven and dedicated
Teamwork-oriented
Experience working with NetSuite or a large-scale ERP
Experience working in a publicly-traded, high-tech, high-growth company
CPA or equivalent (in-process or obtained)
Experience with Blackline account reconciliation and matching modules
