Impact Analyst, Regenerative Agriculture

TechnoServe
São Paulo
BRL 120,000 - 160,000
Job description

Everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future. This simple idea has been at the heart of TechnoServe’s work around the world for over 50 years. TechnoServe is a pioneer in leveraging the power of businesses and markets to create sustainable pathways out of poverty.

The low-income communities in which we work are full of enterprising people. Their small-scale farms and businesses are the keys to economic development. But they face many challenges: low literacy, lack of access to jobs and markets, unpredictable political dynamics, and, increasingly, the effects of climate change. Without resources to combat threats like volatile weather patterns, worsening natural disasters, and crop and livestock diseases, these small-scale producers face lower incomes and higher risks as they struggle to earn a good living.

TechnoServe is meeting this challenge with a bold commitment to help create a people-, nature-, and climate-positive world. Our Regenerate 30 initiative launched at COP27 aims to achieve the following impact by 2030: 30 million people with increased resilience, 30 million tons of CO2e mitigated or sequestered, 30 million acres of land under sustainable management or improved conservation, and $300 million in private sector investment. The initiative will drive over $1 billion in financial benefits for smallholder farmers and businesses. Innovating with corporate partners to transform their global supply chains across their entire sourcing footprint while they work towards achieving net-zero commitments is critical to achieving our Regenerate 30 vision.

Program Overview

TechnoServe has been selected as a preferred strategic sustainability partner by a major global Fast-Moving Consumer Goods company to deliver its ambitious corporate commitment on regenerative agriculture (“Regen Ag”), also contributing to its net-zero carbon agenda. Partnering with an industry-leading company to drive the transformation towards regenerative farming systems across its global supply chains is directly aligned with TechnoServe’s Regenerate 30 vision. We will help strengthen the resilience of the farmers and businesses that operate within the market system, while also contributing to the overall sustainability of that system by delivering positive outcomes on soil health, water resources, and biodiversity.

The donor has made a corporate commitment to protecting and regenerating 1.5 million hectares of land, forest, and oceans by 2030 and has partnered with TechnoServe to deploy the Regenerative Agriculture Program, inspiring and supporting farmers and agribusinesses to engage in the journey towards regenerative production systems.

This global program, funded through 2027, is an opportunity to work with a leading company to demonstrate that there is a future for a better, low-carbon, biodiverse, and profitable approach to farming. The program will work together with the donor’s suppliers across countries and a variety of food ingredients and will make meaningful contributions to TechnoServe’s Regenerate 30 impact goals. This will require us to work with the leading regenerative experts and practitioners in farming communities around the world, supporting them to drive bottom-up change based on the local context. The program has a global scope, which creates a unique opportunity to compare new regenerative farming practices and to share insights and lessons across contexts.

Job Summary

TechnoServe’s Regenerative Agriculture Implementation Team is seeking a highly motivated Impact Analyst to support the implementation of regenerative agriculture projects with suppliers across Latin America & Europe. Reporting to the Impact & Finance Manager and receiving strategic direction from the Program Director, the Analyst will collaborate closely with the Agriculture Manager, GHG accounting specialist, and local agronomists. The Analyst will be responsible for executing the program’s Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes, focused on quantifying environmental and financial outcomes for farmers.

Key metrics include Greenhouse Gasses (GHG) emissions reduction, soil health improvement, water use efficiency, biodiversity restoration, and improvements in farmer livelihoods.

The Impact Analyst will play a pivotal role in delivering a robust MRV system aligned with the donor’s regenerative agriculture framework. The Analyst’s primary focus will be on supporting the Brazil project, ensuring delivery of impact goals and alignment with global priorities, supplier engagement, and the business case for regenerative transition.

Primary functions & Responsibilities:

Impact Analysis & Reporting:

  • Participates actively in the data collection process for farm-level data and annual results of the regenerative agriculture project
  • Acts as a point of contact for MRV implementation—liaising across internal TechnoServe teams, agronomist experts, implementation partners, and local data providers
  • Supports management of MRV partners responsible for performing specific on-the-ground analyses that validate regenerative farming practices
  • Conducts farmer economic business case analysis and validation, to support farmer practice adoption and as input for donor reporting (e.g., financial modeling of farmer practice adoption, break-even analyses, cash flow implications for regen practices)
  • Analyzes farm-level data and soil analysis results (with input from technical partners), calculates impact indicators, and supports baseline and annual reports. Key indicators include GHG emissions reduction, soil health improvement, water use efficiency, biodiversity restoration, and farmer livelihoods improvement
  • Contributes to the delivery of MRV, including preparation of standard and custom reports to communicate program outcomes and impact to stakeholders, ensuring data quality and audit readiness
  • Provides technical expertise and support to project teams and farmers on methodologies, tools, and best practices for impact measurement, and setting up digital systems for data management and impact dashboards
  • Contributes to developing and refining MRV protocols and standards to ensure alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Documents best practices, success stories, and lessons learned from program implementation
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to collect, analyze, and synthesize findings to inform decision-making and program optimization

Project Management support (secondary priority):

  • Monitors progress against program milestones; propose course corrections as needed
  • Develops financial models and bottom-up budgets that align strategically with work plans, targets, and deliverables (e.g., break-even analyses, cash flow implications for regen practices)
  • Prepares specific reports as required by the Program Manager and donor, or to help respond to program incidents as they occur
  • Other duties, as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Data Science, Economics, or related field.
  • At least three years of related professional experience in impact measurement, sustainability reporting, or MRV systems—preferably in agriculture or climate projects, OR a Master's degree plus one year of experience.
  • Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation, impact assessment, or sustainability reporting, preferably in the agriculture sector.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical toolkit; advanced Excel (and similar) required. Proficiency in advanced data management and analysis tools is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with agriculture, sustainability, or climate topics; direct regenerative agriculture knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience with carbon accounting (Cool Farm Tool, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in cross-functional and multicultural teams across various geographic regions.
  • Prior experience writing and editing donor-facing deliverables.

Required Languages: Fluency in Portuguese and English. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills for distilling complex analyses into clear, actionable presentations and briefings for both field and corporate audiences.
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills. Has a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a can-do attitude.
  • Strong project management skills, including anticipating demand and managing multiple tasks and projects while meeting tight deadlines. Ability to work independently and remotely, and effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
