We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale the backend systems that power the Made Card and homeowner platform. You’ll work across the full lifecycle of backend development - from gathering requirements and designing architecture to implementation, testing, and ongoing maintenance. This is a role for someone who thrives in building distributed systems, mentoring others, and ensuring reliability at scale in a fast-moving startup environment.

• System Design & Development: Design and implement scalable backend endpoints and distributed systems using Python.

• Database Modeling: Build and optimize data models across Postgres, DynamoDB, and Redis.

• Architecture & APIs: Define and deliver APIs and backend services that support mobile (Flutter) and web (React/Next.js) applications.

• Infrastructure: Work with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS to ensure reliable deployment, monitoring, and scaling.

• Feature Delivery: Own the full software lifecycle - requirements, design, development, QA, deployment, and maintenance.

• Performance & Reliability: Ensure backend services are performant, secure, and highly available.

• Collaboration: Partner with product, frontend, and design teams to deliver end-to-end features.

• Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to raising the engineering bar.

• 5–8+ years of backend engineering experience, including senior-level responsibilities.

• Strong proficiency in Python with experience building distributed applications.

• Expertise in database modeling and experience with Postgres, DynamoDB, and Redis.

• Solid understanding of RESTful services and API design.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS for infrastructure and deployment.

• Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, best practices).

• Track record of delivering high-quality, well-structured, performant code.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.

• Experience in fintech, credit cards, or financial platforms.

• Exposure to event-driven architectures and microservices.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring tools.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
