As part of their remote-first tech team via Workana Premium, you’ll join as a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer and lead feature work that touches both product and platform. The app is built on Rails with a sleek mobile webview — and it’s scaling fast across Europe, Japan, and the UK.
Your first months will focus on two high-impact projects:
- A custom in-house customer service platform (think Zendesk, rebuilt for the privacy-sensitive needs of a dating app)
- A story-based matching feature where users connect through shared fantasies — match on desire, not looks.
Both projects will stretch your backend muscles and offer plenty of room to improve architecture, performance, and team processes.
- Implement backend features in Ruby on Rails for both web and mobile
- Design performant APIs and services that scale
- Collaborate with frontend (Vue/React) and mobile freelancers
- Refactor legacy logic and improve performance on high-traffic code
- Drive technical decisions as you grow into deeper ownership
- 5+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails
- Strong database skills (MySQL, Redis, MongoDB)
- Solid frontend awareness (React/Vue, HTML/CSS) — you’ll interface with it, not own it
- Collaborative mindset — you’ll work with a distributed team across LATAM and Europe
- Familiarity with mobile (Swift/Kotlin) ecosystems is a plus
- Self-sufficient, communicative, and product-aware
- Hotwire, WebRTC, AI/LLM interest
- Experience with moderation tools, chat/messaging features, or user privacy systems
