The position is within the Supplier Engagement function of the Global Supplier Finance business.

This person will be responsible for developing successful supplier acquisition sales programs for the Citi Supplier Finance (CSF) product which provides working capital and cash flow benefits to our Buyer / clients and their suppliers.

The role will need to grow a portfolio of business in terms of both revenue and assets, as well as act as the team leader of the supplier engagement team in Brazil.

It will be responsible for working with Trade product and Client Management, as well as sales and operations partners to ensure rapid and effective sales and implementation to maximize revenue for this customer base. This role offers a mix of sales and managing key relationships and will coordinate and execute onboarding strategy for Payables product.

This is a front‑office client‑facing role which involves speaking with Treasury / Finance Directors at supplier organizations to sell the Payables product offerings.

Additionally, key responsibilities will include day‑to‑day interactions with clients to:

  • Identify new opportunities and monitor current performance.
  • Coordinate implementation of existing mandates.
  • Agree on onboarding strategy.
  • Explore and execute cross‑sell opportunities.

The candidate will need to liaise with functional partners for successful delivery of the product, e.g.:

  • Legal for document negotiation for strategic suppliers.
  • Credit.
  • Risk.
  • Compliance.
  • Tax.
  • Operations.
Responsibilities
  • Leadership & team development.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals in the supplier engagement team in Brazil in conjunction with the regional head of supplier engagement team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration to achieve strategic objectives and deliver exceptional customer value.
  • Ensure periodic calls with all buyers to share program trends, understand buyer payment flows, and analyze assets behaviour (anticipate possible decreases) and inactive supplier validation.
  • Manage and oversee vendor relationships, performance and external partnerships.
  • Stay abreast of industry changes and customer needs to drive innovation.
  • Develop solutions that address client pain points and ensure products remain competitive and relevant.
  • Conduct thorough market research to understand industry trends and identify opportunities for supply chain finance solutions.
  • Analyze competitor strategies and market demands to inform marketing campaigns.
  • Attend industry events to promote Payables.
  • Develop close co‑ordination with Banking, global teams, Trade Sales and Service Sales organization.
  • Build strong working relationships with Risk teams (regionally / globally).
  • Provide support on global initiatives / projects.
  • Align strategy with stakeholders.
  • Execute and manage portfolio performance.
  • Lead periodic sessions with the team to keep alignment and track ramp‑up strategy execution.
  • Data strategy: build the framework to identify and prioritise the opportunities found in the data exercise for ramp‑up strategies and its execution by the team.
  • X‑Sell strategy: build the framework to map the opportunities to replicate the top suppliers already active in the main programs, according to the information collected in the data exercise with payments made via cash.
  • Business escalations: manage escalations that arise according to the matrix defined for the team, to provide solutions to clients / suppliers or internal teams.
  • Identify synergies to improve process and reduce times.
  • Business review: perform monthly portfolio reviews with product, sales teams, and banking to monitor portfolio behaviour and define jointly strategies for assets growth.
  • Oversee strategic supplier relationships, direct and ensure closure of escalations from strategic suppliers.
  • Lead procurement training and manage buyer relationship wherever required in terms of any intermediation between parties.
  • Organise webinars, workshops, and events to educate suppliers about the benefits and features of the products.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams to define and achieve high‑value business goals.
  • Broad and diverse functional experience (e.g. marketing, credit, acquisitions, product development, analytics).
  • Demonstrated experience driving business innovation, leveraging management information, and data analytics to drive results.
  • Experience in scenario development and forecasting as well as experience serving a range of clients.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of product development, financial acumen, and investment processes across asset classes.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and influencing skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage team strategies.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree / university degree or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proficient in English – mandatory.
