As a critical extension of our clients’ HR teams, we navigate and advise on the intricate paths of global employment with unmatched speed, expertise, and precision. The Lifecycle team at Remote aims to elevate HR practices through technology, impacting customers in 80+ countries. Your work will influence compliance coverage, customer journeys, and operational capacity, helping organizations employ anyone, anywhere — compliantly.

The Senior Lifecycle Specialist, Employee Relations & Transitions independently manages all employee exits for Remote\'s external employees with a focus on legal compliance, quality, and delightful customer service. The specialist also provides first-level Employee Relations support, guiding clients through workplace concerns and coordinating resources.

As part of a larger employee Lifecycle team, the Senior Specialist is expected to drive process improvements and initiatives aligned with Remote\'s strategic goals and values.

What you bring
  • Extensive experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, with generalist HR competencies across the employee lifecycle.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR/labour relations/employment law are a plus.
  • Proven experience independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits with care, compliance, and HR guidance on employment laws across jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of employee relations principles, progressive discipline, and workplace investigation fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret and apply industrial instruments, analyze complex HR issues, and independently translate research into practical team resources and recommendations.
  • Superior communication, influencing, conflict management, and negotiation skills; able to lead difficult conversations with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Business-level English (advanced); additional languages are a plus.
  • Aptitude to innovate and optimize processes, including automation and best practices.
  • Efficient record-keeping and data integrity awareness.
  • Tech-savvy with ability to collaborate asynchronously and adapt to new systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously and cohesively in an international, fast-paced, remote environment; willing to work flexible hours.
  • Proactive, self-motivated with ownership and accountability; able to inspire others.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resolve complex end-to-end employee exits across multiple international jurisdictions with minimal supervision, prioritizing a superior offboarding experience.
  • Provide knowledgeable guidance on key jurisdictions and manage client requests on HR matters including termination, resignation, transfer procedures, contracts, and redundancy processes to ensure legal compliance.
  • Independently lead and facilitate meetings with clients and external employees (e.g., workforce reduction consultations, hearings, negotiations, terminations) and deliver termination outcomes.
  • Influence and negotiate positive outcomes in complex terminations, coordinating stakeholders through lengthy processes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance in offboarding activities and audits (payroll, legal counsel, government bodies, unions).
  • Draft and administer termination documents with accuracy and confidentiality; maintain employee records accordingly.
  • Process offboarding on Remote\'s HRIS, collaborating with teams such as Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, Time and Attendance, and other verticals.
  • Act as first point of informal escalation, mentoring and guiding junior team members.
  • Provide guidance on Remote\'s Employee Relations resources and help clients navigate complex workplace scenarios.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments of workplace concerns, identifying facts, local regulations, and potential paths forward.
  • Serve as a trusted resource on employee relations for internal and external stakeholders; handle complex cases appropriately.
  • Guide clients on progressive disciplinary approaches, documentation, and best practices for difficult situations.
  • Track and monitor ongoing cases, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination with stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to drive process improvements, automation, product development, and overall customer and employee experience.
  • Determine methods and standards on new assignments; apply judgment to select methods and evaluate results across Lifecycle and Remote needs.

Remote Compensation Philosophy

Remote\'s Total Rewards philosophy is to ensure fair, unbiased compensation and competitive benefits in all locations. We pay above in-location rates and aim to hire globally while supporting local talent. Salary bands are geo-based and depend on role, level, location, and market demands.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $41,900 to $94,300 USD. Actual pay depends on location, skills, experience, and business needs. The base salary range may change.

At Remote, internal mobility is encouraged and compensation changes related to internal moves are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Total Rewards & People Enablement team.
