The Role
Fastmarkets is looking for a Price Reporter to report on the pulp and paper markets with a focus on Latin America. We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven and passionate about being part of a fast‑paced, successful team. A strong team player who is happy to work flexibly is essential. Reporters are expected to develop a high level of market expertise in niche sectors including packaging paper, boxboard, and sustainability, publish quality prices and insightful content in line with Fastmarkets PRA approach, and work within regional and global teams to support the development and adoption of Fastmarkets prices while embracing our EEI strategy (Expertise, Engagement & Innovation).
Principal Accountabilities
- Foster in‑depth knowledge of the paper markets across Latin America with a deeper focus on boxboard, graphic paper and containerboard to generate representative prices and world‑class content.
- Collect pricing data and set prices in line with the company’s robust methodology, price specifications and IOSCO principles.
- Support colleagues on their pricing patches to provide cover, consistency, and expand the knowledge base.
- Peer‑review prices to verify that processes and editorial judgement are correctly applied, ensuring our prices are representative.
- Write market commentaries, breaking news and insightful copy with PRA angles to support readership growth and the use of Fastmarkets prices in physical and financial contracts.
- Manage and expand the number of industry contacts that submit pricing data and give news exclusives using all means of communication, including face‑to‑face meetings and networking.
- Handle questions from contacts and the market about pricing dynamics, seeking guidance from senior reporters or the section editor when inquiries are sensitive.
- Assist the section editor to review and manage the existing pipeline of prices and identify new price launch opportunities.
- Help foster Fastmarkets prices and expertise through the teams market engagement plan, which includes producing PRA content, white papers and infographics, participating in internal and external events, promoting the company on social media, and attending industry meetings.
Key Interfaces
- Work within a global team to develop prices, news and market commentary.
- Report to the Latin American team leader while maintaining strong connections with colleagues worldwide.
- Collaborate with other functions when necessary while maintaining segregation between editorial and commercial activities; support Fastmarkets events in the relevant commodity sector and partner with strategy and market development to support price adoption campaigns and exchange listings.
