About the Opportunity

First Help Financial is embarking on a new growth phase involving multiple game-changing projects.

To fuel such innovation, we are seeking a contract full-time Engineering Manager, who will lead our software engineering group.

With over 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams and a strong technical background in software engineering, you will be pivotal in overseeing project lifecycles, mentoring a high-performing team, and ensuring that our technology solutions are innovative and efficient.

You will be instrumental in the hiring process and work closely with the Product Owner to maximize team outcomes.

This role demands a strategic mindset and hands‑on involvement in project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from conception to deployment, ensuring timely and high‑quality deliverables.
• Ensure timely delivery of technical initiatives, maintaining alignment with business objectives and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the Product Owner to align engineering activities with the product roadmap and maximize team outcomes.
• Play an active role in hiring, and shaping the team with skilled professionals.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent, setting goals and conducting performance reviews.
• Drive technical discussions and decision‑making processes.
• Oversee resource planning, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of team resources.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: GoLang, Java, C#.
• Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud services.
• Proven track record in agile environments, with a solid understanding of Scrum methodologies.
• Experience in managing and delivering long and complex software projects.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a team of engineers.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
