About the Role AWS Data Architect – Hybrid Cloud, Data Migration & Legacy Modernization

We are seeking an AWS Data Architect with deep expertise in hybrid cloud environments, on-prem to AWS migrations, ETL modernization, and legacy application analysis. This role will lead the transformation of multiple traditional on-premise systems—including databases, applications, ETL pipelines, and BI workloads—into modern, scalable cloud architectures.

You will work across several business verticals (HR, Corporate Finance, and Real Estate), collaborating closely with Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, BI, Data, and Application teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, autonomous, and highly skilled at reverse-engineering systems in environments with little or no documentation.

Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Migration Strategy
  • Lead end-to-end migration of on-prem systems (databases, applications, ETL, BI workloads) into AWS.
  • Work with Oracle, SQL Server, ODI, legacy ETL flows, Java, Angular, OBIEE / OAS, SSRS, and BI Publisher.
  • Define migration paths (lift-and-shift, re-platform, modernization).
  • Architect AWS solutions leveraging services such as S3, Glue, Athena, DMS, EC2, Lambda, RDS / Aurora, IAM.
  • Ensure data and application continuity for systems that remain on-prem.
  • Contribute to data lake and analytical architecture design.
Legacy System Assessment
  • Independently analyze and document complex legacy systems covering :
  • ODI mappings, packages, workflows, and transformations.
  • Java and Angular applications and their data interactions.
  • BI metadata layers and report logic (OBIEE / OAS, SSRS, BI Publisher).
  • Batch processes, data flows, and integrations across HR, Finance, and Real Estate.
  • Reverse-engineer systems with minimal support or documentation.
Hybrid Architecture & Data Synchronization
  • Design architectures that span on-premise and AWS environments.
  • Support scenarios where significant workloads remain on-prem.
  • Build synchronization patterns for :
  • On-prem ETL (ODI) sustaining local applications.
  • Cloud ingestion for analytics and reporting.
  • Ensure reliability and performance across hybrid data flows.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on Direct Connect, VPN, and related networking.
  • Translate business logic from Oracle / SQL Server into cloud-native technologies.
  • Modernize ETL from ODI into AWS Glue, Python, SQL (Athena / PostgreSQL).
  • Reimplement complex transformation rules while preserving business logic.
  • Support semantic layer design, data modeling, and analytical datasets.
BI & Data Warehouse Migration
  • Migrate BI workloads (OBIEE / OAS, SSRS, BI Publisher) into AWS.
  • Rebuild and validate BI logic within cloud-based architectures.
  • Apply data warehouse concepts (dimensional modeling, marts, semantic layers).
  • Partner with BI teams on testing and rollout.
Compliance, Governance & Cloud Standards
  • Operate within established cloud guardrails, IAM policies, and security frameworks.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and Cloud Operations for governance and infrastructure.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Engage with business analysts, data owners, and application teams.
  • Work across diverse business domains with complex data landscapes.
  • Maintain alignment with cloud, BI, data, and application initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server, including advanced logic.
  • Hands-on experience with ODI / ODEE and ETL reverse engineering.
  • Experience with Tableau, Qlik, ThoughtSpot, or similar BI tools.
  • Understanding of Java, Angular, and reporting / BI applications.
  • Experience with OBIEE / OAS, SSRS, BI Publisher.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehouse concepts, and analytical systems.
  • Proficiency with AWS services : S3, Glue, Athena, DMS, EC2, Lambda, RDS / Aurora, IAM.
  • Experience with hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, VPN).
  • Proficiency in Python.
