ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of naval architects and junior engineers.
- Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
- Conduct technical reviews and quality checks on work produced by the team.
- Plan and coordinate naval architecture activities within project.
- Prepare and manage schedules, budgets, and resource allocation related to naval architecture scope.
- Ensure all deliverables meet client requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee and contribute to hull form design, stability calculations, weight estimations and different types of hydrostatic and hydrodynamic calculations.
- Perform basic structural calculation and scantling calculations in accordance with Class/IMO regulations.
- Approve GA drawings, midship sections, and structural arrangements.
- Ensure designs comply with classification society rules (e.g., DNV, ABS, and BV) and international maritime regulations.
- Review and finalize technical documentation including design reports, analysis summaries, and calculation sheets.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for naval architectural aspects.
- Conduct design presentations and reviews with clients and stakeholders.
- Stay updated with latest industry developments, tools, and regulations.
- Promote the use of digital tools such as CFD, FEA, and 3D modelling in design processes.
DESIRED QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree (M.E./M.Tech) in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or related specialization (Is an added advantage).
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from a recognized university (Mandatory).
- 8 to 10 years of relevant industry experience in naval architecture design and engineering.
- Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in a leadership or team lead role, managing a group of naval architects or design engineers.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Ship or offshore structure design (FPSO, Jack-up, Barges, etc.)
- Stability analysis, hydrostatics, hydrodynamics
- Structural calculations and Class rule compliance (DNV, ABS, BV, LRS, etc.)
- Weight estimation and load analysis
- Preparation and review of design documentation and technical reports.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, MAXSURF, GHS, MOSES, Orca3D, Ship Constructor, ANSYS, SolidWorks (or equivalent)
- Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, IACS, and other regulatory frameworks. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Client-facing experience and ability to handle design reviews and technical meetings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel (if project requires)
