Responsibilities
  • To deliver lessons that inspire students to succeed in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels and develop positive relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Support children’s development by working with curriculum support staff where applicable and liaising with parents to support happiness and academic outcomes.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues to support students’ development and learning.
  • Meet the requirements of the curriculum and plan, prepare, and present sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
Teaching and Learning
  • Clear understanding of the Curriculum.
  • Organise classroom provision and learning resources and create displays that encourage a positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Plan, prepare and present sessions that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
  • Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative teaching.
  • Observe and assess children in line with school assessments.
  • Be reflective of the classroom provision, sessions taught, and progress made; adjust environment, planning and curriculum accordingly.
  • Collaborate with professionals such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and educational psychologists, if required.
Assessment and Data
  • Take responsibility for the progress of a class.
  • Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of student development using Target Tracker.
  • Use data from assessments to influence planning, provision and intervention.
  • Provide feedback to parents and carers on a student’s progress at Parent/Teacher Conferences and other meetings.
Behaviour Management and Duties
  • Follow the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Manage classes effectively, using approaches appropriate to students’ needs to inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils and exercise appropriate authority within the policy.
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate the attitudes and behaviour expected of pupils.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence among learners.
Wider Professional Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a curriculum action group to support planning, assessment, resources and events linked to that team.
  • Support organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities which may occur at weekends or in the evening.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding student achievements and well-being using school systems such as CPOMS where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
  • Run a weekly extra-curricular activity (ECA) each term.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the related subject with PGCE or other teacher qualification.
  • Documents must be attested.
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 1-2 years teaching experience.
  • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • A high level of professionalism and concern for the well-being of children.
  • Recent and ongoing involvement in extra-curricular activities.
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age or ethnic background.
  • A positive, solution-focused attitude to working life.
  • A clean enhanced DBS/police check.
  • Residency in the same Emirate as the school is required.
