Job description

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Manage the engineering scope of a McDermott project.
  2. Establish and implement project procedures to ensure deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements in accordance with contract documents.
  3. Manage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the project.
  4. Support the preparation of proposals for prospective projects.
  5. Practice and promote safety in designs and work processes.
  6. Help prepare and understand the requirements of Engineering in the contract documents.
  7. Coordinate with Engineering and Design Leads on an assigned project.
  8. Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, including multi-office execution as appropriate.
  9. Prepare a Project Coordination Procedure and communicate project requirements to the team.
  10. Supervise and guide other Project Engineers.
  11. Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and document discussions and decisions.
  12. Review and approve meeting minutes, Technical Queries, Design Deviations, and responses to RFI's and other correspondence.
  13. Prepare and approve weekly and monthly reports for management.
  14. Manage project costs, schedules, quantities, and budgets proactively.
  15. Develop and maintain Project Engineering documents, staffing plans, equipment lists, and potential change notices.
  16. Coordinate third-party interfaces and review work with clients and management.
  17. Lead the handover and archiving of completed projects.
  18. Review Lessons Learned and provide input to company processes and procedures.
  19. Interface with internal teams and clients on technical matters.
  20. Identify and solve complex problems impacting the project.
  21. Present ideas and persuade stakeholders, often at senior levels.
  22. Report to Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager, or Functional Manager.
  23. Liaise with various project teams and functions.
  24. Supervise Project Engineers and Discipline Leads on a project.
  25. Maintain knowledge of detailed design engineering codes, standards, and procedures.
  26. Possess field assignment experience and international project experience, including multioffice MOPEX execution.
  27. Develop proposals and contractual documentation, and act in PMT roles for projects.
  28. Experience with Brownfield and Greenfield projects, reading contractual documentation, and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience as a Project Engineering Manager on multiple projects.
  • Registered Engineer in Training (EiT) or professional society membership preferred.
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and capable of representing McDermott professionally.
  • Broad technical knowledge and experience in detailed engineering and design procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand contractual documentation.
  • Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • Experience in international projects, proposals, and contractual documentation.
  • Experience in Greenfield and Brownfield projects, and project management roles.
