Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering scope of a McDermott project.
- Establish and implement project procedures to ensure deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements in accordance with contract documents.
- Manage the technical execution to support the business considerations established for the project.
- Support the preparation of proposals for prospective projects.
- Practice and promote safety in designs and work processes.
- Help prepare and understand the requirements of Engineering in the contract documents.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Design Leads on an assigned project.
- Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, including multi-office execution as appropriate.
- Prepare a Project Coordination Procedure and communicate project requirements to the team.
- Supervise and guide other Project Engineers.
- Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and document discussions and decisions.
- Review and approve meeting minutes, Technical Queries, Design Deviations, and responses to RFI's and other correspondence.
- Prepare and approve weekly and monthly reports for management.
- Manage project costs, schedules, quantities, and budgets proactively.
- Develop and maintain Project Engineering documents, staffing plans, equipment lists, and potential change notices.
- Coordinate third-party interfaces and review work with clients and management.
- Lead the handover and archiving of completed projects.
- Review Lessons Learned and provide input to company processes and procedures.
- Interface with internal teams and clients on technical matters.
- Identify and solve complex problems impacting the project.
- Present ideas and persuade stakeholders, often at senior levels.
- Report to Project Manager, Project Engineering Manager, or Functional Manager.
- Liaise with various project teams and functions.
- Supervise Project Engineers and Discipline Leads on a project.
- Maintain knowledge of detailed design engineering codes, standards, and procedures.
- Possess field assignment experience and international project experience, including multioffice MOPEX execution.
- Develop proposals and contractual documentation, and act in PMT roles for projects.
- Experience with Brownfield and Greenfield projects, reading contractual documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering.
- Experience as a Project Engineering Manager on multiple projects.
- Registered Engineer in Training (EiT) or professional society membership preferred.
- Flexible, team-oriented, and capable of representing McDermott professionally.
- Broad technical knowledge and experience in detailed engineering and design procedures.
- Ability to read and understand contractual documentation.
- Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
- Experience in international projects, proposals, and contractual documentation.
- Experience in Greenfield and Brownfield projects, and project management roles.
