About the job SENIOR PIPING ENGINEER

The Senior Piping Engineer will be responsible for leading and producing detailed piping layouts and design deliverables for onshore oil & gas facilities during the FEED and Detailed Engineering phases. The role requires extensive experience in 3D modeling, piping layout development, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring all designs comply with ADNOC Engineering Standards, project specifications, and international codes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and execute piping design activities for onshore oil & gas projects during FEED and Detailed Engineering stages.
  • Develop and check piping layouts, isometrics, and GA drawings for process units, utility areas, and offsite facilities.
  • Prepare and review 3D piping models using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), E3D, or PDMS, ensuring clash‑free, constructible designs.
  • Coordinate with process, civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure design consistency and integration.
  • Review and verify line routing, equipment orientation, and nozzle orientations based on P&IDs and process requirements.
  • Generate and check Material Take‑Offs (MTOs), tie‑in details, and as‑built markups.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to ADNOC Engineering Standards (ADES/AGES) and international codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API, and ISO.
  • Participate in model reviews, design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, and constructability workshops.
  • Coordinate with the stress and support engineers to incorporate flexibility and support requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and drafters within the piping team.
  • Interface with document control and ensure all drawings and deliverables are updated, properly numbered, and issued as per project procedures.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all piping design deliverables in line with project schedules and quality standards.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Diploma / Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Mechanical or Piping Engineering (Bachelors degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in piping design within the oil & gas industry, with at least 10 years in onshore oil & gas projects.
  • Proven experience in Engineering Phase work FEED, Detailed Engineering, and Detail Design (not construction).
  • Mandatory ADNOC project experience (minimum one completed FEED or Detailed Design project for ADNOC Onshore / ADNOC Gas).
  • Advanced proficiency in SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), E3D, PDMS, and Navisworks.
  • Excellent understanding of piping design principles, materials, valve types, and fabrication requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of ADNOC standards, international design codes, and best engineering practices.
  • Capable of leading a small team of designers and ensuring delivery quality and compliance.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and leadership skills.
  • Immediate availability to join in Abu Dhabi.
  • Experience in brownfield modification and tie‑in design for existing ADNOC facilities.
  • Familiarity with SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) or other engineering document management systems (EDMS).
  • Good understanding of constructability, safety in design, and field coordination.
  • Ability to conduct model review sessions and interface with clients and discipline leads.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high design quality standards.
