The Resident Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the progress of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. This role will require extensive on-site presence and coordination with various stakeholders during the entire construction process.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of construction activities on-site, including material delivery, contractor schedules, labor resources, and equipment usage.
- Review design proposals, work program, material submittals, method statements, shop drawings, payments, variation orders, and claims.
- Effectively manage site supervision staff, ensuring work is conducted according to contract specifications.
- Ensure contractors, subcontractors, and workers adhere to project schedules, quality, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with designers and architects to ensure accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Regularly review progress and status reports, advising on adjustments and changes to meet project requirements.
- Provide updates to the client and project team on project status, costs, and progress, and request approvals or change orders as necessary.
- Recommend innovative solutions that improve project quality and reduce costs.
- Prepare and submit periodic project reports summarizing progress, schedules, and goals to the management team.
- Coordinate with other Resident Engineers on scheduling, resources, and solution finding.
- Monitor quality of materials and workmanship installed, operated, and maintained.
- Maintain daily diary and reports by subordinates and liaise with client, project management, contractor, and authorities as required.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Familiarity with contract conditions, quality assurance, and internal company processes and policies.
- Demonstrate strong written, verbal communication, negotiation skills, and personal safety adherence.
- Collaborate with engineers to solve project design problems and perform basic design calculations as required.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies and site investigations.
- Liaise with client, contractor, supervision team, engineering team to facilitate task and project completion.
- Client service management and internal/external client infrastructure liaison.
- Build and maintain lasting positive relationships with clients and contractors.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 12 years of experience in drainage, water network, and miscellaneous projects.
- Candidate must hold PMP certification and be proficient in Primavera and MS Office.
- Candidate must have previous experience dealing with construction manager, CS site team, client, contractor and suppliers.
- Experience with SWS infrastructure and water recycle project advantages.
Other duties as requested from time to time by the Construction Manager.
