A leading technology-driven organization is seeking a RESEARCH SCIENTIST (CHEMICALS) to join its team in Sharjah, UAE. The company provides innovative solutions across packaging, printing, and retail industries, with a strong footprint across the MENA and Asia regions.

Research Scientist (Chemical)

The ideal candidate for the Research Scientist (Chemical) role will have the following domain knowledge:

  • Inkjet ink formulation (water-based, UV-curable, pigment/dye-based)
  • Pigment dispersion, rheology, viscosity and stability analysis
  • Polymer chemistry, colour matching and print testing
  • Ink-substrate interaction and adhesion analysis
  • Laboratory instrument handling and safety (pH meter, spectrophotometer, etc.)
  • Regulatory and EHS protocols for chemical R&D labs
Key Responsibilities

Primary:

  • Assist in formulation of new inkjet inks
  • Perform laboratory trials utilizing diverse raw materials and systematically record performance metrics. Innovate and optimize cost-efficient, eco-friendly formulations to align with sustainability goals.
  • Perform quality and stability checks on experimental batches.
  • Participate in scale-up trials and support manufacturing transitions.
  • Maintain detailed logs of formulations, test results and raw material sources.
  • Coordinate with QA and production for resolution of technical issues.
  • Conduct comparative studies against benchmarks and competitor samples.
  • Assist in resolving routine production quality challenges and support to meet the production targets

Other:

  • Ensure lab cleanliness, safety protocols and waste management compliance.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing instruments regularly.
  • Update ink formulation databases and organize ink libraries.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction studies and raw material substitutions.
  • Engage with raw material vendors for sample evaluations.
  • Support training of interns and junior lab assistants in testing procedures.
