Overview

Engine by Starling is on a mission to partner with leading banks worldwide who have the ambition to build rapid growth businesses, using our technology. Engine is Starling’s SaaS business, the technology that powers Starling Bank and was spun out as a separate company two years ago. The platform is now available to banks and financial institutions around the world, enabling them to benefit from innovative digital features and efficient back‑office processes.

About the role

We are seeking a Product Consultant within the Client Solutions Division to help establish, grow and scale our Middle Eastern business and ensure successful implementation of the Engine Platform for our clients in the region. This unique early‑hire position is based in Dubai, may require travel, and will involve business development, client discovery, and implementation across the entire client lifecycle.

What you’ll get to do
  • Contribute to the success of the global Engine business as it scales, sharing regional learnings with central and other regional Business Development and Client Delivery functions.
  • Build strong relationships internally and with client and partner organisations, from establishing initial client relationships through to implementation.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams during Discovery and Delivery phases to agree on programme requirements and schedule.
  • Support the implementation of the Engine platform, including transition from delivery to go‑live.
  • Present clear, compelling solutions to clients, supporting integration and localisation work.
  • Drive early‑stage conversations, client workshops, demos, and identify/qualify genuine opportunities.
  • Support commercial and contractual conversations, prepare for pitches, and participate in marketing activities such as events and thought leadership.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with implementation partners, driving collaborative business development activities and go‑to‑market strategies.
Your background
  • 2+ years of experience in client‑facing roles, consulting, or technology companies.
  • Some experience in financial services, preferably in the Middle East.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of large‑scale, complex programmes.
  • Can rapidly understand client problems and present structured solutions.
Your skills
  • Inquisitive, curious, able to understand client issues, needs and concerns while building trusted relationships.
  • Structured approach to complex or ambiguous problems.
  • Technical aptitude, curiosity, self‑motivated, able to work autonomously.
  • Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders, facilitating workshops and discovery sessions.
  • Adapt communication style to different stakeholders (senior clients, consulting organisations, engineering functions).
  • Flexible in approach to delivery; comfortable working in an Agile environment.
  • Excitement about Engine’s technology transforming banking in various markets.
Interview Process

Interviewing is a two‑way process to ensure we both get a good fit.

  • Initial interview with someone from the BD or Client team – 45 mins.
  • More in‑depth interview with further BD and/or Client team members – 60 mins.
  • Final interview with CDO/CCO – ~45 mins.
