Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Procurement Engineer / Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing electrical and electronic components, Instruments, software licenses, and subsystems essential to our projects. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, and Quality Assurance to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality materials, while mitigating supply chain risks.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for electrical/electronic components (PLCs, sensors, drives, HMIs), enclosure systems, cables, connectors, and industrial software.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to achieve cost savings and ensure supply continuity.
  • Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews to ensure compliance with quality, delivery, and technical specifications.
Technical Procurement Support
  • Work directly with Engineering teams to review BOMs (Bills of Materials), understand technical requirements, and source components that meet design and regulatory standards (UL, CE, IEC, etc.).
  • Provide input during design phases to recommend alternate components for cost reduction, lead time improvement, or obsolescence management.
  • Manage the RFQ process, analyse supplier proposals, and make data-driven purchasing decisions.
Purchasing & Inventory Control
  • Place purchase orders and manage order tracking through delivery, ensuring alignment with project schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels of critical components and implement strategies to minimize excess while avoiding shortages.
  • Address any delivery delays, quality issues, or non-conformances with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Cost & Risk Management
  • Achieve cost reduction targets through negotiation, value engineering, and alternative sourcing.
  • Monitor market trends, lead times, and geopolitical factors that may impact the supply chain for key components.
  • Develop and maintain a preferred supplier list and contingency plans for high-risk items.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and relevant industry standards.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of procurement, sourcing, or buying experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment, preferably within automation, control systems, electronics, or a related industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of electronic components, industrial automation products, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing supplier relationships.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
