Job Responsibilities

• Diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, vaccinations and other treatments as needed
• Monitor patients' progress using physical exams, medical history records, lab results and other diagnostic tools
• Counsel parents on topics such as diet, exercise habits or hygiene practices
• Educate patients on preventive care practices or lifestyle changes that can improve their health
• Refer patients to specialists when necessary
• Provide advice on nutrition, hygiene or home safety issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medicine from an accredited institution
• Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Pediatrician by the appropriate governing body
