About the role

Jan De Nul is a pioneer in building at sea. We install renewable energy infrastructure, make marine transport possible, protect our coastlines and build the most advanced harbours. To keep our vessels operational as much as possible, we need technically minded engineers like you.

What you'll do

As a Mechanical Engineer you will support our Asset Management Team in maintaining and optimizing mechanical asset data for dredging and offshore vessels + equipment. This office-based role focuses on main drive systems, including diesel engines, gearboxes, and propulsion units, with a strong emphasis on understanding how these systems work and identifying their components.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Maintain and analyze mechanical asset records (e.g. engines, gearboxes, thrusters, shaft lines)
  • Understand the working principles of diesel engines, gearboxes and propulsion systems
  • Identify and manage mechanical components and spare parts used in these main drive systems
  • Review technical documentation and ensure compliance with maritime standards + JDN spare parts requirement.
  • Coordinate with vessel crews, TD, and suppliers to validate mechanical asset data
  • Manage mechanical article master data in the maintenance system (AmosW)
  • Work confidently with MS Office tools, especially Excel
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in maritime, offshore or mechanical systems
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, gearboxes, and propulsion systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and identify its mechanical components
  • Fluent in English
