Responsibilities
  • Oversees the implementation of linen room standards and procedures.
  • Opens and closes the shift and ensures effective shift handover.
  • Distributes and collects keys.
  • Manages all incoming and outgoing calls to Linen Department.
  • Solves employee grievances.
  • Directs task allocations and changes according to volume and peak periods.
  • Performs quality inspections.
  • Liaises with Housekeeping for guest and hotel requirements.
  • Ensures staff uniforms and hotel linen are processed and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Ensures consistency within the department.
  • Completes stock-takes as required.
  • Conducts shift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known.
  • Leads employee engagement activities.
  • Recommends changes to standards and training needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintains knowledge of all laundry systems.
  • Manages all incoming and outgoing calls to Laundry Department.
  • Ensures room linen is in good shape and spotless.
  • Solves employee grievances and prioritizes VIP or difficult guests.
  • Ensures laundry valet is processed and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates special projects (e.g., equipment routine service; stock inventories).
  • Manages special requests made by guests.
  • Maintains knowledge of room types, layouts, facilities, and their locations.
  • Supervises laundry storage areas and maintains adequate stock levels.
  • Conducts inventories and assists in budget preparation and management of the department’s financial targets.
  • Enforces cost-saving measures and builds positive relationships with internal customers and guests.
  • Creates a positive hotel image in every interaction and adheres to brand standards.
  • Maintains product and service knowledge to explain and sell services and facilities to guests.
  • Assists guests and escorts them within the hotel as requested.
  • Maintains knowledge of special programs and events to respond to guests’ needs.
  • Works effectively with diverse colleagues and customers and understands the global nature of the business.
  • Manages outsourced laundry and uniforms to ensure standards are met.
