Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Housekeeping department, the Laundry Attendant is responsible to dry clean and press guest, management staff, uniforms and other items such as curtains, bedspreads and any soft furnishings and upholstery according to prescribed standards. The Laundry Attendant reports to the Laundry Supervisor.
As Laundry Attendant, you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:
- Operate laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and ironers, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Load items into machines and ensure the correct use of cleaning agents and detergents as per standards.
- Sort laundered items by category (e.g., white linens, coloured linens) after drying.
- Fold, hang, and store linens and terry items in their designated storage areas.
- Sort, segregate, and fold all items requiring processing while maintaining quality standards.
- Complete the daily production report and submit it to the Supervisor at the end of each shift.
- Clean the lint trap of the dryer before each operation and as frequently as required during use.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of always assigned machinery and equipment, reporting any irregularities to the Supervisor.
- Always ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the laundry area.
- Identify and segregate torn or stained items for reporting and further action.
- Adhere strictly to the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, including Fire, Hygiene, Health, and Safety regulations.
- Report all potential and actual hazards immediately and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Report for duty on time, wearing the correct uniform and name tag.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Laundry Manager, or Management.
- Maintain an accurate logbook of daily production and chemical consumption.
- Attend all departmental training sessions and daily briefings.
- Participate actively in departmental communication meetings.
As a Laundry Attendant, weexpectfrom you:
- Previous experience in the same role in a luxury hotel is required, resort experience is a plus
- Certification or Diploma in Hospitality Management is preferred
- Demonstrates strong physical stamina and the ability to remain standing for prolonged periods as required by the role
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages is an advantage
