The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the housekeeping staff and ensures that the facility is clean, well-maintained, and presentable at all times and in compliance with KCH health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) plans, policies and procedures.
Your main priority is to ensure the Operating Theatre is up to its HSEQ standard, while the remaining areas of the hospital you ensure to work closely with the HK Team to ensure HSEQ for proper monitoring.
Health, Safety, Environment And Quality
- Adheres to all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, policies, and procedures of King’s College Hospital.
- Ensures the housekeeping team operates in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
- Ensures compliance with all cleaning, sanitation, infection control, and hygiene standards and protocols.
- Ensures safe manual handling and proper use of chemicals.
- Ensures uniforms are clean and personal hygiene standards are maintained across the team.
- Is familiar with all emergency codes and knows the required actions during emergencies.
- Identifies hazards and reports all hazards and incidents immediately.
Housekeeping Operations And Responsibilities
- Manages and supervises the daily cleaning operations of the outsourced housekeeping team.
- Ensures contractor compliance with hospital standards, SLA terms and KPI requirements.
- Plans, coordinates, and performs a range of cleaning activities to ensure the hospital remains clean and safe, including disinfection and sanitisation of patient rooms, clinical areas, and medical equipment where applicable.
- Trains, supports, and motivates the outsourced housekeeping team to ensure effective and efficient performance.
- Develops and implements daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and work plans.
- Reviewing outsourced team’s daily checklists, log sheet and activity reports.
- Monitors inventory of cleaning materials, chemicals, and supplies to ensure availability and validity (i.e., within “best before” or “use by” dates).
- Ensures all hospital areas—including patient rooms, outpatient areas, public spaces, the Operating Theatre, restrooms, offices, and support areas—are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Coordinates with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure cleaning activities do not interrupt patient care or medical procedures.
- Conducts periodic inspections of all areas to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and compliance with standards.
- Addresses concerns or complaints from patients, visitors, or staff regarding cleanliness in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensuring escalations for service lapses are done as per contract terms.
- Verifying and monitoring waste segregation (general, medical sharps) before disposal.
Education& Qualification
- High School Certificate (or equivalent)
- Certificate in Infection Control Training is preferred
- Certificate in Health and Safety Training is preferred
- Certificate in Environmental Hygiene Training is preferred
Experience
- Must have a related experience as a Supervisor in healthcare sector
- Must have at least 5 years experience in Housekeeping is preferred
- Previous experience in the Middle East is preferred
