Job summary

A leading renewable energy company is seeking a Head of HV & Electrical to lead technical and techno-economic aspects of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have 12-15 years of experience in renewable energy and a strong background in management and project planning. This position is exclusively for UAE Nationals.

Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

To lead and manage technical, techno-economic, design aspects, and project management during the lifecycle of infrastructure projects related to all engineering disciplines such as High Voltage (HV), electrical, Instrumentation and Control (I&C), and Cyber Security. The role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring project alignment with organizational goals.

The Head of HV & electrical will provide technical guidance and leadership to multiple teams of engineers and technical consultants, making strategic decisions within the Engineering domain. The role includes leading a team of discipline experts related to HV & Electrical (including OT) infrastructure components within renewable power plants and ensuring knowledge transfer within the team.

As part of an integrated project team, responsibilities include preparing and agreeing on project specifications, budgets, and timelines with contractors, clients, or other stakeholders, defining basic design, and creating or reviewing test procedures for infrastructure components such as foundations, transformers, cables, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic contribution and execution of annual objectives:

• Lead and manage technical support for assessing HV & electrical infrastructure in power projects for Masdar.
• Contribute to executing the Engineering annual objectives aligned with Masdar's vision, mission, and strategy.
• Provide strategic input and ensure risk management processes are in place, analyzing how Engineering can set new technological and environmental trends and support business incubation in Abu Dhabi.

Leadership of projects from an engineering perspective, ensuring maximum value creation:

• Monitor projects from technical and techno-economic perspectives related to HV & electrical engineering, ensuring maximum value through innovation, adoption, and deployment of technology.

Provision of technical and techno-economic support for HV, electrical, and OT infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle:

• Lead technical and techno-economic support for all projects, balancing in-house and external providers, optimizing costs, knowledge, and flexibility.
• Manage revisions of critical design aspects during project execution.
• Support operational matters during asset lifetime as needed.

Technical support within the department:

• Streamline technical processes and standards.
• Provide insights on testing, commissioning, and technical specifications in contracts.
• Support external stakeholders, safeguarding Masdar's interests.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in engineering or related field (asset).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or related field.

Preferred Experience:

• 12-15 years in renewable energy, preferably with EPC contractors, engineering firms, or consultants.
• Experience managing teams.
