A leading company is seeking a Head of Group Tax and Compliance Manager in Dubai. This pivotal role involves developing tax strategies, ensuring corporate compliance, and advising senior management. Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Head of Group Tax Manager to lead and manage the group s tax function. This position requires a deep understanding of corporate tax, VAT, legal and regulatory compliance, and the ability to oversee comprehensive reporting processes. The Head of Group Tax will also manage a team dedicated to Joint Venture (JV) businesses, ensuring tax strategies, compliance, and reporting align with the group s overall objectives and the legal framework. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and the capacity to advise senior management on strategic tax matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead the group s tax strategy in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Provide strategic tax advisory services to the executive leadership team and other departments to optimize the tax position of the group and its subsidiaries.
Drive tax efficiency initiatives and ensure the tax function is aligned with the group s broader corporate strategy.
Manage and coordinate tax planning, including corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and international tax considerations.
Lead the development of tax compliance procedures and ensure alignment with global tax best practices.
2. Corporate Tax & VAT Compliance:
Oversee all corporate tax and VAT compliance functions, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete submission of tax returns and filings across all jurisdictions.
Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate their impact on the group s operations, advising senior leadership on necessary adjustments.
Lead VAT compliance processes, ensuring accurate application of VAT in all business operations, contracts, and transactions.
Oversee the management of all indirect tax filings, including VAT, sales tax, and other similar taxes, ensuring full compliance across jurisdictions.
3. Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the group complies with all applicable tax laws and legal regulations, including those affecting cross-border transactions and international operations.
Act as the primary point of contact for legal teams and external advisors on tax-related legal matters, including disputes, audits, and investigations.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with transfer pricing, tax reporting, and other tax laws across global operations.
Advise on legal structure and transaction planning to optimize the group s tax position while mitigating legal and regulatory risks.
4. Joint Venture (JV) Tax & Compliance Management:
Oversee the tax compliance and reporting processes for all joint venture entities, ensuring their tax positions are in line with group strategies and legal requirements.
Provide guidance to JV partners on tax efficiency, structuring, and compliance issues related to JV operations.
Ensure the correct application of tax laws in JV transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
Manage the financial reporting of JV tax matters and ensure timely filing of JV tax returns.
Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions, tax reporting, and compliance documentation for the group.
Coordinate with internal audit and external auditors to ensure that tax provisions and reporting are accurate and compliant.
Lead the quarterly and annual tax reporting process, ensuring tax positions are correctly reflected in group financial statements.
Manage the group s transfer pricing documentation and compliance requirements across jurisdictions.
6. Team Management & Development:
Manage the team s day-to-day activities, ensuring the completion of all tax compliance, reporting, and advisory projects within agreed timelines.
Conduct performance reviews and provide career development opportunities for tax staff.
7. Stakeholder Engagement:
Serve as the primary liaison for tax matters with internal stakeholders, including the finance, legal, and operations teams.
Build strong relationships with external tax advisors, tax authorities, and auditors to ensure effective communication and timely resolution of tax issues.
Participate in cross-functional projects, advising on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor s degree in accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field. A Master s degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CTA, or similar) is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in tax management, with a focus on corporate tax, VAT, legal compliance, and JV tax structures.
