WSP in the Middle East is looking for a Graduate Consultant – Ground Engineering to join us in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
As a Graduate Consultant in Ground Engineering, you will assist experienced engineers and geotechnical professionals in various tasks related to the analysis and improvement of ground conditions for construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the Ground Engineering Team in innovation and digital transformation, driving applications and revenue in Smart Geotechnics, Remote Sensing, and AI.
- Develop and implement AI/ML algorithms to support digital engineering design, geotechnical modelling, site assessments, and monitoring of geotechnical assets.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and emerging trends in AI/ML, geotechnical engineering, and engineering geology to enhance project outcomes.
- Perform traditional geotechnical engineering tasks, including:
- Undertake geotechnical site characterizations and assessments to analyze geological conditions and identify potential risks.
- Assist in designing geotechnical, geophysical, and geo-environmental site investigations.
- Supervise site investigation contractors and conduct investigations, including soil and rock logging.
- Manage investigations, subsurface exploration, sampling, laboratory testing, and analysis to provide engineering recommendations.
- Interpret ground data using 2D/3D geological and geotechnical software modeling.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, presentations, and specifications for stakeholders, effectively communicating complex geological concepts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to incorporate geotechnical considerations into project planning and construction strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in geotechnical engineering, geology, engineering geology, or related fields with a focus on AI/ML applications.
- Knowledge of AI, computational geomechanics, data science, software engineering, and programming languages such as Python, R, Java, MySQL, and experience with geotechnical software like Plaxis, OpenGround, Leapfrog, Revit, Civil 3D, AGS files.
- Understanding of geological and geotechnical principles, including soil and rock mechanics and testing methods.
- Experience with geological modeling and analysis software such as Plaxis 2D/3D, GeoStudio, Rocscience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Creative mindset and professional curiosity.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
