Job description

We are seeking a highly alert and detailoriented Emergency Dispatcher to join our emergency response team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving and prioritizing emergency and nonemergency calls dispatching appropriate emergency services (police fire medical) and providing essential support and guidance to callers in distress.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer emergency (911) and nonemergency calls promptly and professionally.
• Determine the nature location and priority of emergencies and dispatch appropriate emergency services.
• Provide lifesaving instructions including CPR over the phone while awaiting emergency personnel.
• Operate radio telephone and computer equipment to relay information accurately.
• Maintain detailed logs of calls dispatches and other critical data.
• Monitor emergency response units and provide ongoing support with updated information.
• Coordinate with law enforcement fire departments and medical teams efficiently.
• Remain calm and collected during highpressure situations and rapidly changing circumstances.
• Adhere to all standard operating procedures laws and regulations regarding emergency communication and data privacy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate or bachelors degree in Criminal Justice Communications or related field (preferred).
• Prior experience in emergency dispatching or public safety communications is an asset.

Certifications (Preferred or Required)

• Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification
