Qualifications

  • Minimum eight years of experience in engineering and maintenance of electrical equipment in a large industrial environment, preferably oil and gas.
  • Knowledge of electrical industry codes and standards including API, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, and NEC or IEC.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, motor control systems, protection and control systems, SCADA, and variable frequency drives.
  • Experience with PLC integration and modern communication protocols.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues related to HV installations, protection systems, electrical automation, power control systems, variable speed drives, and UPS equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements and HSE practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical input to update company specifications based on new industry trends and lessons learned.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical engineering problems and recommend effective solutions to support safe maintenance activities.
  • Represent the plant in power grid coordination and contribute to relevant system studies.
  • Coordinate work and switching activities with internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Witness factory and site acceptance tests, pre commissioning, and commissioning activities to confirm compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain electrical equipment in line with HSECES and ensure adherence to MAT requirements.
  • Review and update material stock, revise specifications, remove outdated items, and ensure availability of critical spares.
  • Monitor and audit electrical contractor activities, provide feedback on performance, and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures, identify causes, and recommend preventive actions.
  • Perform residual life assessments of critical electrical equipment and suggest corrective measures.
  • Analyze failure reports, identify recurring issues, and develop solutions to improve overall equipment performance.
  • Support preparation of capital, operating, and long term business plan budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of electrical systems and support integration of new facilities and upgrades.
  • Conduct engineering studies to evaluate modifications aimed at improving plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Review plant change requests and assess feasibility of modifications in accordance with company procedures.
  • Develop scope of work for major overhauls, service orders, and small projects, and coordinate implementation.
  • Support project teams with scope development, execution, and commissioning activities.
  • Evaluate vendor, OEM, and contractor support requirements and arrange specialist services as needed.
  • Perform technical evaluations of bids and verify that contractor designs meet project scope and facility requirements.
  • Develop monthly and annual reports covering major section activities and expenditures.
  • Ensure adherence to electrical safety rules and procedures and safe use of electrical equipment.
  • Coordinate with projects, engineering, and integrity teams for studies and site related issues.
