Job description

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) in the United Arab Emirates is seeking Clinical Pharmacist Specialists in the following areas: Critical Care, Transplant, Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, and Medication Safety.

At CCAD, we believe pharmacists should take full ownership of medication-related care and be accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to quality, safety, and clinical outcomes within their specialties.

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist provides comprehensive, patient-centered clinical pharmacy services in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other caregivers to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive medication management to optimize therapeutic outcomes and enhance patient safety.
  • Ensure effective communication and seamless handoffs across all transitions of care.
  • Demonstrate complete ownership and accountability for medication-related quality, safety, and outcome measures within the assigned specialty.
  • Deliver expert pharmacotherapeutic and pharmacokinetic consultations and actively participate in interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Lead initiatives to promote medication safety, quality improvement, and operational excellence across the continuum of care.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based guidelines, protocols, and policies to support optimal pharmacotherapy practices.
  • Actively contribute to education, mentorship, and training for pharmacy colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as a clinical resource at the point of care, supporting informed, timely, and safe decision-making.
  • Maintain competencies in all pharmacist functions and demonstrate flexibility to support departmental operations as needed.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-2 residency in the relevant specialty area, or equivalent post-graduate experience providing direct patient care in that specialty.
  • Current pharmacist licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in the USA, Canada or UK.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical decision-making, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Strong commitment to innovation, education, and continuous quality improvement in pharmacy practice.
