Role Summary

Role Profile: Civil Engineer. This is a greenfield CCGT project to be constructed with a net power capacity of 2400 MW, together with its ancillary equipment, associated infrastructure and facilities. The Project comprises the Plant and associated Electrical Special Facilities (ESF). The Plant will be located inland at a site situated approximately 50 km north‑east of the City of Abu Dhabi. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in the full lifecycle of the project, from design and engineering to construction and operation, all within a dynamic and innovative environment. This project promises stability and long‑term impact.

Location: Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE (Site is approx 30 to 40 Kms from Abu Dhabi city). Duration: 48 months. Reporting Structure: Project Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Project Planning: Collaborate with project teams to develop and review civil engineering project plans, ensure alignment with objectives and timelines, coordinate with construction teams, prepare detailed schedules, monitor progress, and recommend adjustments.
  • Design and Analysis: Review detailed designs and specifications for civil engineering components, conduct structural analysis, interpret designs and drawings, assist in resolving minor design issues, and update as‑built drawings.
  • Construction Oversight: Oversee construction activities, ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards, supervise on‑site construction, address engineering issues, and coordinate with contractors.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implement and maintain quality control measures, conduct inspections, audits, and ensure contractors follow approved procedures and standards.
  • Budget and Cost Management: Develop and manage civil engineering budgets, monitor and control costs, assist construction managers, and provide inputs for budget forecasting and cost reports.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation, prepare progress reports, keep records of inspections, approvals, and construction activities, and submit NCRs.
  • Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international regulations, and coordinate with regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as liaison between the civil engineering team and project stakeholders, provide updates to senior management, coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants, and participate in site meetings.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site inspections of civil installations, monitor construction progress, identify deviations or non‑conformance, and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Technical Document Reviews and Approvals: Review Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, and Material Approval Requests, ensuring they align with all relevant codes and specifications.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure all civil construction activities comply with HSE standards and project safety protocols, perform risk assessments, and ensure safe working practices.
  • Compliance with Standards: Ensure all civil construction work adheres to applicable codes and standards, with strong knowledge of ACI, ASCE, AISC, IBC, and other relevant civil codes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5‑7 years of relevant experience as Civil Engineer in Power Projects (Combined Cycle).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
  • Hands‑on experience with inspection techniques, construction practices, and structural integrity assessments for civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in adhering to industry standards and codes such as ACI, ASTM, BS, ISO, and SBC, with a strong focus on concrete structures, steel works, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
  • Proficiency in testing and inspection techniques, including soil compaction testing, concrete strength testing, rebar inspection, and interpreting test results.
  • Strong knowledge of ACI, ASCE, AISC, IBC and other relevant civil codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting Civil design drawings, Method Statements, Inspection Test Plans, and Material Approval Requests.
