Job description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and highly organized Boat Service Manager to lead and oversee our service department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine maintenance and repair, excellent leadership abilities and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for managing the service team, scheduling and coordinating repairs, maintaining quality control and ensuring timely service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all operations within the boat service department including maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and inspections.

  • Lead, train and motivate a team of marine technicians, mechanics and support staff.

  • Schedule and prioritize service work based on urgency, availability and customer commitments.

  • Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer standards, safety regulations and company policies.

  • Communicate with customers regarding service needs, estimates, timelines and updates.

  • Manage inventory of parts, tools and equipment, coordinating with suppliers and parts departments.

  • Maintain detailed service records, invoices and work orders using service management software.

  • Monitor department performance metrics such as turnaround time, customer satisfaction and service revenue.

  • Resolve customer complaints or issues promptly and professionally.

  • Stay updated on the latest marine technologies, manufacturer guidelines and compliance regulations.

  • Collaborate with sales and warranty departments to ensure smooth transitions and post-sale service.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of marine engines, electrical systems, hull maintenance and diagnostics.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills.

  • Customer-focused with a commitment to high-quality service.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and service bulletins.

  • Proficiency in service management or dealership software (e.g. DockMaster, Lightspeed or similar).

  • Certifications from marine manufacturers (e.g. Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta) are a plus.

  • Valid driver's license (and boating license if applicable).
