The Assistant Resident Engineer will be associated with AECOM's construction supervision discipline engineers, working independently or under the direction of the Resident Engineer, advising on all engineering matters related to civil construction.
Job Duties
- Review of Inspectors' Daily Reports.
- Oversee Inspectors' daily activities, including work assignments, onsite performance, and guidance on the supervision of the Contractors' operations.
- Review, comment, and approve Contractors' Shop Drawings as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Assist the Resident Engineer in providing approvals/comments on Contractors' technical submittals (Method Statement, Material shop drawings, etc.) as delegated.
- Coordinate with Contractors' supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence, and method of work.
- Review as-built drawings in coordination with inspectors and surveyors.
- Witness laboratory tests and verify test results.
- Report nonconformances observed during Contractor activities.
- Assist in punch list preparation.
- Coordinate field inspections.
- Participate as an active member of the project leadership team, including interaction with the Client.
- Manage and control delivery of all contract elements, including scope, quality, budgets, schedules, stakeholder interfaces, communication/reporting, environmental, and health and safety aspects.
- Convey instructions clearly to staff to achieve project goals.
- Keep the Resident Engineer informed of developments affecting the project for immediate action.
- Interpret survey and engineering submittals to identify and solve problems efficiently.
- Identify early slippage in Contractor activities for prompt recovery actions.
- Use extensive construction experience to anticipate and prevent problems.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills fostering mutual respect among staff and contractors.
- Ensure high-quality work and compliance with Employer's Requirements, Project Specifications, and Safety Requirements.
- Assess Contractor’s compliance with the Quality Management System and standards.
- Review and approve Contractor's design submissions, calculations, drawings, and materials.
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports, including fabrication, construction, testing, and procurement status, reporting any nonconformities or malpractice.
- Evaluate Contractor personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress of all project participants.
- Participate in construction meetings.
- Perform claims analysis and maintain a claims file.
- Assist in resolving construction problems.
- Analyze value engineering proposals.
- Prepare nonconformance reports for observed issues during project execution.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 12 years of related Construction Supervision/Management experience on projects with a broad general engineering background.
- 8 years of experience in infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Dubai projects.
- Experience as a Senior Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Degree in a relevant discipline.
