Job description

The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the produce department. This role helps ensure fresh high-quality fruits and vegetables are available assists with inventory and merchandising and provides excellent customer service to maintain a clean and attractive department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with ordering receiving and stocking fresh produce

• Ensure all produce items are fresh rotated regularly and properly displayed

• Support pricing labeling and promotional signage in accordance with store policies

• Help maintain cleanliness organization and food safety standards in the department

• Monitor inventory levels and assist in minimizing spoilage and shrinkage

• Provide training guidance and supervision to produce clerks and staff

• Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints professionally

• Ensure compliance with health safety and sanitation regulations

• Assist in planning and executing seasonal displays and promotional events

• Report any issues related to quality equipment or suppliers to the Produce Manager

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent (additional training in retail or food safety is a plus)

• Previous experience in grocery or produce department preferred

• Knowledge of fruits vegetables and perishables handling

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Good communication and customer service skills

• Ability to lift carry and stand for extended periods

• Familiarity with inventory systems and basic computer skills
