Job summary

A recruitment company is seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Paarl, Western Cape. The ideal candidate should have Grade 12 and at least 2 years of experience in quality inspection. Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge
  • Grade 12
  • Additional training or certification in quality assurance, logistics, or a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • At least 2 years experience in a quality inspection, quality control, or similar role, ideally within a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics setting.
  • Previous exposure to inbound materials handling or QC-focused roles is strongly preferred.
Technical Competence
  • Sound knowledge of quality control principles, inspection methods, and standard procedures.
  • Basic awareness of manufacturing, warehousing, and production workflows.
Attention to Detail
  • Highly detail-oriented with a structured and systematic approach to inspections.
  • Capable of identifying inconsistencies, defects, or risks that may affect product quality.
Problem-Solving Ability
  • Able to analyse issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Comfortable working independently and making informed decisions regarding acceptance or rejection of materials.
Communication Skills
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to present inspection results in a concise, accurate, and professional manner.
Regulatory & Standards Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of relevant quality management systems and industry standards, such as ISO 9001 and applicable food safety requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receiving & Inspection
  • Examine incoming deliveries of raw materials, components, and finished products upon receipt.
  • Confirm that received items match the accompanying documentation, including purchase orders, packing lists, invoices, and transport documents.
  • Carry out visual checks to identify damage, defects, or quality variances.
Quality Evaluation
  • Collect samples and perform measurements or tests to verify compliance with product specifications, submitting samples to the QC laboratory where required.
  • Ensure all materials meet established quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Accurately record details of all received goods and inspection outcomes.
  • Compile and maintain reports for non-conforming or defective items, outlining the issue and recommended corrective actions.
  • Communicate inspection results promptly to the QC Supervisor and relevant departments to enable timely resolution.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve delivery discrepancies or quality-related concerns.
  • Work closely with warehouse, logistics, and procurement teams to support efficient material flow.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the purchasing department regarding supplier performance and product quality.
Inventory Control
  • Assist in sorting and labelling materials according to inspection status (approved, on hold, or rejected).
  • Ensure non-compliant items are clearly identified and stored separately to prevent unintended use.
Compliance & Safety
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Ensure all activities comply with internal quality systems and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Participate in scheduled safety, quality, and compliance training sessions.
Continuous Improvement
  • Recommend enhancements to quality control practices to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support internal and external audits and participate in QC process reviews as required.
