Job summary

A growing renewable energy company based in Cape Town seeks a Project Engineer to manage project lifecycle from site assessment to solution delivery. The ideal candidate has a degree in Electrical Engineering and extensive experience in solar energy and Battery Energy Storage Systems. Responsibilities include conducting site assessments, engaging clients on solar projects, and providing technical support. Willingness to travel across Western and Eastern Cape is essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years’ experience in the solar energy industry.
• 3–5 years’ experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Solid understanding of Grid-Tied Systems like SolarEdge, Sungrow, and Huawei.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments and data analysis.
• Engage clients on future solar farm projects (5–20MW scale).
• Prepare and present proposals and energy simulations tailored to clients.

For the position you would be required to have:

• B. Sc/ B. Eng/ B. Tech in Electrical Engineering
• 3–5+ years’ experience in the solar energy industry.
• 3–5 years’ experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Proficient in Excel for modelling, calculations, and proposal development.
• Solid understanding of Grid-Tied Systems: SolarEdge, Sungrow, Sunsynk, Huawei.
• In-depth knowledge of BESS systems: Sungrow, Atess, Sunsynk, SigEnergy.
• Commercial and Industrial Solar, BESS, Utility-scale experience
• Willingness to travel across Western Cape and Eastern Cape

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments, data analysis, and translate findings into effective energy solutions.
• Engage clients on potential future solar farm projects (5–20MW scale).
• Prepare and present detailed proposals, models, and energy simulations tailored to client needs.
• Provide troubleshooting and technical support for operational sites where issues arise.
• Maintain clear, organised, and up-to-date filing and archiving of all technical designs for future reference and compliance.
• Act as the technical interface with clients, managing relationships and ensuring solution clarity.
• Collaborate with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure accurate and aligned implementation.
• Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to maintain a leading edge.
• Ensure engineering teams’ designs align with client expectations and technical parameters.
