Job summary

An agricultural company based in Durban is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will draft marketing plans, manage budgets, and execute product communications across various platforms. Responsibilities include event organization and stakeholder management. A tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or Communication and at least 2 years of experience in a similar role are essential. This position demands strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans, along with the ability to interface effectively at all levels.

Marketing and Communications Manager Reference: PTA

Responsibilities
  • Draft an annual marketing promotion plan in conjunction with the Head of Department, after receiving inputs from portfolio management and Regional Marketing Officers.
  • Maintain a record of the approved annual marketing expense budget and report status monthly to the head of department.
  • Execute product and services communication, including launches, campaigns, and related activities.
  • Plan and implement advertising in agricultural publications, press releases, adverts, web placements, and social media channels (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.).
  • Conceptualise and execute innovative display models and promotional items for trade shows and events.
  • Produce in‑house artwork for print and multimedia production.
  • Coordinate with designers to create marketing collateral such as brochures, event invitations, videos, and other assets.
  • Provide support to Business and Marketing Managers, Stewardship and AFAS programmes and Agents with promotion requirements (e.g., sponsorships, Farmers' Days clothing, handouts, banners, gifts).
  • Manage Southern Africa web communication, company websites and related digital platforms.
  • Identify and assess events as potential promotional platforms.
  • Organise and attend events including Farmers' Days, annual Agents' Conference, expos, and trade shows.
  • Request supplier quotes, obtain management approval, receive orders, and process invoices and payments.
  • Manage hospitality events as a customer‑service and promotion tool.
  • Propose and contribute to product communication plans and initiatives, including web communication.
  • Maintain the company's corporate image and identity in alignment with the communications department.
  • Maintain the trade‑name database in coordination with the global legal and registration department.
  • Ensure new product names are registered as requested by the Portfolio Manager.
  • Keep the trade‑name summary up to date.
  • Ensure alignment with AME branding policy for all marketing activities, following global guidelines.
  • Keep the marketing budget updated.
  • Order all company business cards.
  • Maintain libraries of electronic collateral and content such as open design files, stock image library and rendered files (print and multimedia).
  • Ensure contractual obligations for hospitality, trade show agreements, and others meet legal requirements.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing and/or Communication.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a marketing communication position.
  • Industry experience preferred.
  • Good communication and presentation skills in English and Afrikaans.
